Using Hydrating Face Masks at Home
As the cold weather continues I am seeing more and more my client’s skin getting dryer. Because of this, there’s another mask that’s important right now, hydrating masks. On top of face oils, serums and rich moisturizers, hydrating face mask helps retain skin moisture.
Hydrating masks are essential because they help replenish moisture into the skin. With the cold weather we have right now, it is a good time to start incorporating hydrating face masks into your skin care routine. Here are a few things you need to know about hydrating face masks.
What are hydrating masks?
Hydrating face masks or overnight sleep masks lock in hydration and add things like anti-aging peptides into your skin, while you sleep or chillax. It keeps the ingredients on the skin longer than the regular or traditional, rinse off masks because it has more time to work on your skin, making them more effective.
If your skin is dry or oily combination skin that’s dehydrated, a hydrating face mask can be your best friend. It helps the skin hold on to the moisture for a longer time. Just make sure your mask is safe foe acne and won’t trigger any flare ups.
How often should you use a hydrating face mask?
Using masks can help the skin a lot but overusing it can be a bit much. “Overmasking” symptoms include breakouts, redness, itching, dry, flaky skin , a burning sensation, and peeling skin. Also, you could be stripping your skin of natural protective oils and friendly bacteria that are important for keeping your skin healthy.
How often you use hydrating masks depends on your skin type. Hydrating masks can be used twice a week. It would be helpful to do a patch test to ensure you don’t have any adverse reaction to any of its ingredients before you apply it to your face.
In times of a pandemic where we should limit our movement outside of our homes, using hydrating face mask is a quick fix for hydrating your skin in the comforts of your home.
