What is Acne?

Most people know that acne affects our pores, but many people are unaware that it’s a hereditary condition. The pores in acne-prone skin shed cells much faster than normal skin does. Normal skin types (i.e. skin that is not too oily or too dry) will shed cells about one time a day. The cells in acne-prone skin can shed up to five times a day, and the body just can not keep up with this influx of cell buildup.

When this happens, a clog called a microcomedone forms, and this is the beginning of all acne problems. The microcomedone can take up to 90 days to turn into a blackhead or congestion under the skin. If bacteria (which just loves to feed on dead skin cells and oil) is present, the clog will turn into inflamed pimples, pustules, or even cysts.

But you don’t have to stand by and let this process affect your appearance and skin health. At Puresthetics, we have comprehensive solutions personalized to treat your acne, whether it’s just begun to develop or you’ve been dealing with it for years.

Unclog Pores & Prevent Breakouts

More Than Acne Spot Treatment in Cary, NC

Because it takes up to 90 days for acne to form, when you come to us for treatment, you may still have a lot of acne under the surface that we can not see right now, which will surface in the coming days. The products and acne system we provide will keep new acne from forming that would normally surface 90 days from now. The goal of treatment is to reduce the ongoing shedding process that is happening deep within the pore and encourage the skin to behave like normal skin type.

Healing your skin is a process, and we want to do it in a gentle, progressive way to avoid stress and setbacks. Our goal is to nourish your cells, reduce inflammation, kill bacteria, and allow the skin to heal itself while remaining hydrated and balanced. Dive into the steps of our process below.

Step 1. Schedule a Consultation or Acne Bootcamp

Booking your first appointment gives us a chance to meet and assess your needs. Both a consultation and an initial Acne Bootcamp session will include:

A customized treatment plan for your specific skin type
Skin sensitivity test
Comprehensive review of your lifestyle, medical, and skin history
Photos of your skin to track progress
Enzyme or Chemical Peel treatment (depending on sensitivity)
Downloadable PDFs with diet and lifestyle information, pore-clogging ingredient lists, birth control lists, supplement recommendations, and more!

After your initial consultation and treatment, you will receive a treatment plan specifically for your acne type, including recommendations for the best acne products to address your needs. Treatment plans come complete with instructions on how and when to use your products correctly. All products are 100% acne-safe, contain no pore-clogging ingredients, and are customized to your skin type and severity of acne.

Step 2. Bi-Weekly Follow-Up Appointments

We use these follow-up appointments to assess your progress and modify your treatment regimen as needed. We work to troubleshoot problems and provide powerful, medical-grade esthetics support. Each follow-up treatment includes:

High Frequency and LED lights may also be used to kill the acne-causing bacteria in your pores and reduce inflammation.

Step 3. Start Seeing Results

The Puresthetics Acne Bootcamp will have your acne under control in about 3-6 months (in most cases), depending on your type of acne. Some types of acne take longer to clear and your lifestyle habits will be a huge determining factor. We’re here to provide guidance and technical support, but it’s your job to put in the work and stick to a proper home care regimen.

Your FAQs About Acne Treatments

Many over-the-counter and prescription acne treatments contain harsh active ingredients that aren’t suitable for sensitive skin types. At Puresthetics, we use our broad knowledge base and completely customized treatment methods to comfortably and safely treat all skin types. Contact us today to get started with a consultation.
Preventing acne starts by bringing your skin into balance. This means nourishing skin cells and working to clear your acne without drying or dehydrating the skin’s surface. You can spend hours exfoliating and trying to unclog pores over and over again, but if you don’t build a healthy foundation, acne problems are bound to resurface.
Many people don’t realize this, but plenty of “clean” beauty products can contribute to skin irritations. Changing your skin care routine is not always necessary, but managing it appropriately and eliminating pore-clogging substances is an important aspect of our Acne Bootcamp. Visit our Acne Bootcamp page to learn more.
When hormonal changes cause overproduction of oil in your pores, it quickly leads to clogs and breakouts. Despite what many products advertise, there is no one-size-fits-all solution for any type of acne, but Puresthetics is here to help. Fight back against hormonal acne with personalized Teen Acne Facials or our Acne Bootcamp. These methods are tailored to your unique lifestyle and skin type and focused on treating the root causes of your acne.
