The majority of us all struggle with blackheads at one point or another. These dirty little things can cause huge problems if not addressed by a professional. I assure you there is absolutely no product on the market that will remove blackheads. They need to be extracted manually after softening them with steam and sometimes enzymes.
Blackheads are a collection of dirt and oil that build up in the hair follicle/pore (the oil gland is inside the hair follicle). Sometimes the dirt will just sit there forever without causing a problem other than just make the skin look dirty and dull. Other times, usually if you have large pores, if the blackhead sits in there too long it can become infected and create a whitehead/pimple.
The best way to treat them is to have facials regularly, usually once a month. If you have acne or a large amount of blackheads then you may ned to come in biweekly until they are under control.
Things to do at home:
- Wash face day and night
- Exfoliate 2-3x a week
- use light serums instead of heavy moisturizers
- use toners to make sure you are removing all dirt and cleanser from the face and neck
- Have regular facials and check in with your esthetician to make sure you are taking care of your skin properly.
I recently did a 6 minute youtube video about blackheads where I go over this info a little more in detail. Enjoy!
